Memory you can feel
A titanium core-wire is heat-set into each temple so the frame remembers its shape. Sit on them, pack them, forget them in a bag — they return. That is the whole point of an instrument: it should outlast your carelessness.
Titanium is a difficult material. It resists being shaped, it dulls tools, and it costs many times what steel does. We use it anyway, because nothing else gives you memory, spring and near-weightlessness in a single wire.
